POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Dec 5, 2021: Students hold a symbolic coffin procession in Shahbag, the capital of Bangladesh, demanding safe roads. On Sunday (December 5), they marched on the road demanding 9 points including notification of half pass.
They then announced tomorrow’s program. They said that candle lighting and protest songs will be organized at Shaheed Minar tomorrow at 6 pm.
One of the protesters said, “Anyone who has gone knows.” What a cry of their family. We remember that cry. We want to move on the road with safety.
The students further said that many at the ministerial level are creating controversy over our issues but we are clear on the place of our demands.
They also said that programs have been organized in 18 districts of the country to demand half pass. Protesters have been attacked in Barisal. Somewhere 9 point, somewhere 11 point demands have been brought about this movement. We have no objection to this. However, we are agitating for 9 points.
Another group of students at Rampura Bridge also displayed caricatures in protest of safe roads. At that time, they called on the people to unite in the movement without listening to propaganda.
As part of the new program on Monday, the students will mourn the victims of the road accident at Rampura Bridge at 12 noon. They will also wear black badges and protest wearing black clothes.
Students have been protesting for half-pass all over the country for a long time. Meanwhile, Naeem Hasan, a student of Notre Dame College, was killed by a vehicle of City Corporation. Notre Dame students took to the streets to demand justice. After that, schoolboy Durjoy was killed in Rampura. Since then, students have been protesting in various places demanding safe roads.
