POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Nov 27, 2025 : Earthquakes have been felt again in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, and other parts of the country. The magnitude of the tremor was not immediately known.
The tremor was felt at 4:15:20 pm on Thursday.
Rubaiyat Kabir, officer-in-charge of the Earthquake Monitoring Center of the Meteorological Department, confirmed this information to the media.
He said that it was a low-magnitude earthquake. Its epicenter was in Ghorashal, Narsingdi. Its magnitude was 3.6 on the Richter scale.
The notification issued by the Meteorological Department said that its distance from the earthquake measuring center in Agargaon, Dhaka was 28 kilometers northeast.
It is worth noting that till 4:30 pm on Thursday, three earthquakes were felt in the country within a span of 13 hours. The first of these earthquakes occurred at 3:29 am on Wednesday, 118 kilometers from Teknaf.
The earthquake in the Bay of Bengal shook Teknaf city in Cox’s Bazar. Then, at 3:30:49 am, a mild earthquake was felt in Sylhet. Its magnitude was 3.4 on the Richter scale. The last tremor of magnitude 3.6 was felt at 4:15 pm on Thursday. The magnitude of the tremors on the Richter scale was moderate or mild.
Earlier, on Friday (November 21) morning, the entire country including Dhaka was shaken by a strong earthquake. In this incident, 10 people, including children, were killed and more than six hundred people were injured. Institutions and houses were damaged.
The Meteorological Office had said at the time that the magnitude of the earthquake was 5.7 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was Narsingdi. The highest number of deaths – five – were in Narsingdi. Four in Dhaka and one in Narayanganj. Many people jumped from buildings in panic during the earthquake. In addition, some buildings tilted and cracks appeared.
