POBNEWS24, Dhaka Feb 12, 2023 : The Election Commission (EC) will finally announce the name of the President at the end of the withdrawal period. EC Secretariat Secretary Jahangir Alam gave this information after submitting the nomination papers of the Awami League nominated candidate at the Agargaon election building on Sunday.
The secretary said that Awami League has submitted two nominations named Mohammad Sahabuddin Chuppur for the presidential election. The two nominations will be scrutinized tomorrow, Monday
Jahangir Alam said, one nomination was submitted at 11 am and another at 11:50 am. Tomorrow, Monday, two nomination papers will be selected. And after the withdrawal, the name of the president will be officially announced.
In response to a question from reporters, the EC Secretary said that according to the law, a maximum of three nomination papers can be submitted in the name of the same person.
The CEC announced the schedule for the presidential election on January 25. According to the announced schedule, nominations are filed today on February 12, tomorrow is Monday for selection and Tuesday is the day for withdrawal. And the election will be held on February 19. However, since there is only one candidate for the absolute majority in the Parliament, polling is not required.
