POBNEWS24, Dhaka June 24, 2022 : The low-lying areas of Rajbari, Shariatpur and Madaripur are likely to experience short-term floods on Friday. However, the flood situation may improve in Sylhet, Sunamganj and Netrokona. The Flood Forecasting and Warning Center said this yesterday.
According to the forecast, the water level of all major rivers of the country except Padma is declining.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is unlikely in the next 48 hours in the country and in different parts of the upper reaches except the Teesta basin. In the next 48 hours, water levels in the Brahmaputra, Jamuna, Dharla, Dudhkumar and all major rivers in the north-east of the country (excluding Titus) may continue to decline.
In the next 48 to 72 hours, moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast in Jalpaiguri and Sikkim in West Bengal. As a result, the waters of the river Teesta may rise near the danger zone. Besides, flood situation in Kishoreganj and Brahmanbaria may remain stable. The flood situation in Kurigram, Gaibandha, Bogra, Sirajganj, Tangail and Jamalpur may improve in the next 24 hours.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is no fear of heavy rain anywhere in the country till June 26. Then the rain may increase again.
