POBNEWS24, Dhaka, May 1, 2025 : Ruhin Hossain Prince, central general secretary of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and central leader of the Left Democratic Alliance, said that the hardworking working people of the country are the most victims of exploitation and discrimination. There is a lot of discussion about the country’s politics and economy, but the voices of these people remain unspoken. One of the slogans of the 2024 mass uprising was to free from discrimination, now it is not under discussion.
He said that the hardworking working people have kept our country alive. However, the national minimum wage has not been declared in the country. Real farmers continue to produce even though they do not get a profitable price for their crops. The working people living abroad live inhuman lives in that country, sending the money they earn to the country. And a special group of people in the country are smuggling the country’s money abroad and making that country their own homeland.
The country must move forward by changing this situation and improving the real status of those involved in production and their lives and minds. This work can be done by the country’s left progressive democratic political party. Therefore, this political force must be brought to power and the dream of May Day must be realized. For this, the system must be changed and the struggle must be strengthened.
He demanded the immediate declaration of a national minimum wage and the guarantee of trade union rights of workers.
He expressed his strong anger over the non-operation of state-owned jute mills and other closed factories in Khulna, saying that working people give their lives in every movement and struggle, but their rights are not achieved. He demanded the payment of arrears of workers and employees and the guarantee of jobs for laid-off workers.
He demanded the formation of a commission to specify the ratio of salaries at all levels as one of the immediate steps to eliminate inequality. He said that the basic rights of working people, including housing and medical care, and the future life of their families and children must be guaranteed.
On Thursday afternoon, he addressed the public meeting organized by Khulna’s Dighlia Upazila CPB at Senhati Shibbari Chattar as the chief guest.
In the public meeting held under the chairmanship of Comrade Mrinal Pal and conducted by District Committee Member SM Chandan, CPB Central General Secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince, District President Dr. Manoj Das, District General Secretary SA Rashid, Khulna Metropolitan Committee President HM Shahadat, District Secretariat Member Mizanur Rahman Babu, Upazila General Secretary Mizanur Rahman Swapan, Nityanand Dhali, Gazi Afzal Hossain, Mostafizur Rahman Russell, Upazila Committee Leader Saidul Islam, Sukhlal Biswas, Tarak Das and others spoke.
In his speech, Ruhin Hossain Prince strongly demanded an end to corruption in the Upazila Land Office, expansion and renovation of the road from Nagar Ghat to Arua, and opening of the closed road between People’s and Crescent Mills.
Before the public meeting, party leaders and workers from different areas joined the public meeting with a procession carrying red flags. After the public meeting, artist Das Kalidas and other artists performed mass music. In addition, various labor organizations across the country observed May Day.
