He was speaking as the chief guest at the reception of nursing officers who joined Sylhet Osmani Medical Hospital on Saturday afternoon.
The minister said at one time there was one doctor for every 10,000 people and one nurse for every 5,000 people in the country. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government has halved the number of doctors and nurses in hospitals.
Mentioning the huge demand for nurses abroad, he emphasized on enhancing the communication skills of nurses in Bangladesh and said, “I have talked to Singapore and Japan. They are willing to take our manpower if we can improve communication skills. ‘
At the same time, the country needs to increase the scope of the hospital said. Momen. Calling on the rich to increase investment in hospitals in Sylhet, he said, “If all kinds of facilities are ensured, our people will not go abroad for treatment.” By spending this money here they will be able to take advanced treatment. Outsiders will come to Sylhet for treatment. Meanwhile, we need to pay attention now. ‘
A site has been identified for setting up a second unit of Osmani Hospital in the East Shahi Eidgah area of Sylhet city, the minister said. He urged the concerned parties to take immediate steps for land acquisition by allocating this land.
Dr. AK Abdul Momen MP further said, “Osmani Hospital needs a beautiful garden. In developed countries, there are beautiful gardens and trees in front of the hospital. Seeing them and sitting in the garden, many patients get peace of mind and much improvement in body and mind. Initiatives will be taken to create such a garden in our Osmani Hospital as well. Besides, the minister assured to take all necessary steps to ensure the facilities of doctors and nurses.
