POBNEWS24, Dhaka by Mir Afroz Zaman , Sep 6, 2022 : Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally welcomed Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Sheikh Hasina said, she hopes, there will be a very fruitful discussion.
Sheikh Hasina was formally welcomed by a guard of honor at the Rashtrapati Bhavan of India on Tuesday morning.
Narendra Modi welcomed Sheikh Hasina to Rashtrapati Bhavan. The two Prime Ministers shook hands. Later Sheikh Hasina was given a guard of honour.
Sheikh Hasina said at Rashtrapati Bhavan, ‘India is our friend. Whenever I come to India, it is a joy for me. Especially we always remember India’s contribution during our liberation war. We have friendly relations. We are helping each other.’
Sheikh Hasina also said, ‘I hope, there will be a very fruitful discussion. Our main goal is economic development. Meeting the basic needs of our people, which we will be able to do. You can solve any problem through friendship. So, we always do that.’
As per the program of the day, after the Rashtrapati Bhavan ceremony, Sheikh Hasina visited Rajghat Gandhi Mausoleum to pay her respects to Mahatma Gandhi. After that, the summit meeting of the Prime Ministers of the two countries will be held at Hyderabad House.
In the afternoon, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will first have a courtesy call on Indian Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and later on Indian President Draupadi Murmu.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina went on a four-day visit to Delhi on Monday. India is optimistic that the Prime Minister’s visit to Delhi after a gap of three years will add a new dimension to the relationship between the two countries. And Bangladesh thinks that the entire region can be developed through this visit through various levels of integration between the two countries.
