POBNEWS24, Desk Report, Feb 24, 2022 : Dhaka University authorities have declared 13 teachers’ posts vacant as the allegation of not going abroad for higher education and joining the job on time has been proved.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the university’s highest policy-making committee (syndicate) on Wednesday (February 23) evening. According to the rules, the authorities will be able to make new appointments in those 13 posts. The matter was confirmed to Kaler Kantha by several syndicate members.
According to syndicate sources, the university owes money to the accused teachers. The minimum amount is 9 lakh rupees and the maximum is 53 lakh rupees.
University syndicate member Professor. Mohammad Humayun Kabir said that in 2015 he went abroad for higher education. Did not join the job on time and did not pay the university dues. Humayun Kabir mentioned that the resignation letter will be accepted if the money is paid.
Professor Dr. Humayun Kabir also said that the professor of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Dhaka University accused of taking higher education abroad without the permission of the university. The report of the inquiry committee into the allegations against Mofizur Rahman has been submitted and reviewed.
Besides, the inquiry committee had recommended a high-level inquiry and three separate cases in connection with the disappearance of Tk 10 lakh 8 thousand from two bank accounts of the Faculty of Pharmacy. Professor Humayun said that it was decided to keep the case going according to the process.
