They are trying to infiltrate into Bangladesh due to insecurity due to the ongoing conflict in Myanmar’s Rakhine. However, the Rohingyas staying in Ukhia-Teknaf are opposing their entry into this country.
Rohingya leaders said at the convention held at the camp on Friday (February 2) that they would immediately return to Myanmar if the Arakan Army clarified their position. You can’t make a mistake after leaving your country.
Inside Myanmar, the junta forces and the rebel group Arakan Army are fighting fiercely. Arakan Army has already occupied several areas of Rakhine State. Due to the ongoing conflict, Rohingyas from various parts of Rakhine, including Buchidong, have taken up positions at the border to enter Bangladesh.
The Rohingyas of Ukhia camp said that the Rohingyas are constantly being attacked by both sides. So they are in regular contact with the Rohingyas here to migrate to Bangladesh.
The Rohingya leaders have urged not to leave their homeland under any circumstances even if they are subjected to persecution.
They say they made a mistake in coming to Bangladesh in 2017. Don’t let others do it a second time. The junta is now weakened in Myanmar. As a result, it is necessary to return to the homeland now.
A Rohingya said on condition of anonymity, “We don’t want to let anyone come to Bangladesh.” Rather, it is time for us to go there. which has become urgent. It is very good to go at this time.
Another Rohingya said the same thing. He said, even if they suffer, even if they are oppressed, they need to stay in Myanmar. If they stay in the country, we can go later.
Meanwhile, the Refugee Commission says that the government is in a strict position to prevent any new infiltration.
Refugees, Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said that there is a danger of more Rohingya entering Bangladesh. But our Border Guard (BGB) is on high alert. So that no more Rohingya can enter Bangladesh.
