POBNEWS24, Kushtia, Oct 19, 2024 : The shrine of Lalon Shah, Shiromani Fakir of Baul, was broken at Lalon Akhara in Cheundia, Kushtia, a district bordering Bangladesh. Lalan Akhara, filled with millions of people, played the farewell tune. After the closing ceremony on Saturday (October 19), the Baul saints returned to their respective ashrams. The three-day grand event culminated with mystical songs from the spiritual world, exchange of emotions, Guru Bhakti, sadhusanga and grand musical performances.

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Helal Mahmud Sharif was the chief guest at the closing ceremony.. Additional DIG of Khulna Range Police Jaydev Kumar Bhadra, Mizanur Rahman, Superintendent of Police of Kushtia were the special guests. Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) 47-Battalion Kushtia captain Md. Mahbub Morshed, heroic freedom fighter principal Sohrab Uddin, student representative Mozakkir Rahman Rabbi and Md. Sajedur Rahman. The main discussant was eminent writer and researcher Advocate Lalim Haque. Acting Deputy Commissioner of Kushtia Mocha Sharmin Akhtar presided over the meeting.

Speakers said that Lalon Fakir’s spirituality and philosophy are being researched at home and abroad. Fakir Lalan was a man of non-communal spirit. He was silent on self-identification. Lalan’s main achievement is his lyrics and melody. He has sung the praises of human love and humanity through songs that transcend caste and caste. Speakers emphasized on spreading the message of non-violence to eliminate all injustice and discrimination in the society.

Many heartwarming and charming songs of Lalan were performed by young and old Baul artists throughout the night. Apart from this, the spectators and listeners enjoy the jalsa of Bauld songs on the banks of Mara Kali river.

Before this, about seven thousand Baul Fakirs were given Khichuri (Adhibas) for dinner, breakfast (Balyaseva) pies and muri and lunch (Punyaseva) of white rice, pulses and vegetables. Later, Baul and guests were sweetened with curd. The three-course meal at Ankhara house is one of the attractions of Baul-sadhus ritual and a unique part of the supreme peace of God. However, most of the Bauls left the shrine after taking punyaseva at noon on October 18.

Baul Fakir Jasim Uddin of Kumaridanga village in Gangni Upazila of Meherpur district said that Lalan rushed to the Akhara to pay his respects at Saiji’s shrine during the event organized on the occasion of Lalan’s death anniversary and Dol Purnima. He said that it is possible to attain peace of mind by following the philosophy of Fakir Lalan and following the path prescribed by him.
