POBNEWS24, Dhaka June 28, 2022 : After the inauguration of the Padma Bridge, buses from 21 districts of South Bengal have been coming to the capital Dhaka for two days. The bus drivers, conductors and passengers were overjoyed to be able to reach Dhaka in less time through the Padma Bridge. However, the drivers are getting in trouble while keeping the bus. Buses with route permits are coming to Dhaka.

Buses that do not have route permits are also coming to Dhaka. As a result, there is severe traffic jam in Jatrabari and Sayedabad bus terminal areas. A similar picture was seen in Jatrabari and Sayedabad areas on Monday. In this situation, the transport workers demanded to set up a bus terminal outside the capital. In this case, if done in Keraniganj, it will be beneficial for the bus drivers and workers of South Bengal. Traffic congestion in the capital will also be reduced. DMP Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Munibur Rahman told Kaler Kanth that discussions are underway to build a bus terminal in Keraniganj.

DMP Additional Commissioner (Traffic) said. Munibur Rahman told Kaler Kantha, ‘Many buses from South Bengal have route permission to come to Dhaka. Those vehicles will be allowed to enter DMP. And those who do not have a route permit will not be allowed to enter. ‘

The problem is: Gungun Paribahan buses have been running from Dhaka to Mawa for so long. Now they are going to Bhanga in Faridpur. Yesterday afternoon, Gungun Paribahan (Dhaka Metro B-14-630) came to Jatrabari with passengers from Bhanga. The driver said. Mithu said they have been given new route permits till now. They went to Bhanga with passengers from different districts. From there the passengers are going to their respective destinations. He said he has to pay a toll of Tk 2,400 to go to the Padma Bridge and Tk 2,400 to come. As a result, the fare is being increased from the passengers. Earlier, passengers used to charge Rs 60 till Mawa. Now 250 rupees is being taken till it is broken.

Drivers and helpers of several buses traveling from Dhaka to Mawa said that if the vehicles were not allowed to go to different districts including Khulna, Barisal, Shariatpur and Patuakhali, there would be losses. Even if there are no passengers, it will cost around five thousand rupees to return through the Padma bridge.

Talking to the bus drivers and assistants, it is learned that they came to Dhaka with buses from different districts and went to keep the buses in trouble. A Khulna bus driver said they were coming from Khulna to Sayedabad terminal, but the police turned the bus at Jatrabari junction. They then stopped the bus next to the flyover from Jatrabari to Postagola. Traffic jams occurred in the area as one bus after another was parked at noon yesterday. Traffic Sergeant Mamun, who is on duty at Jatrabari, said those who do not have route permits are not coming. Asked about the arrival of local buses from different districts, he said, “The Padma Bridge has just been inaugurated. It will take a while for everything to be fine. ‘
