POBNEWS24, Dhaka Aug 30, 2025 : The interim government has strongly condemned the brutal attack on the President of the People’s Rights Council and former VC of DUCSU, Nurul Haque Nur. It has also been stated that no one involved in the attack will be spared.

In a statement, the government said that such violence is not only an attack on Nurul Haque Nur, but also on the spirit of the democratic movement that united the nation in the historic struggle to ensure justice and accountability.
The interim government has assured that a full and impartial investigation into the incident will be carried out with the utmost seriousness. Regardless of influence or rank, no one involved will be spared from accountability. Justice will be ensured with transparency and speed.
The government said that a specialized medical board has been immediately formed to monitor the medical activities of Nurul Haque Nur and the injured members of his party. The government is committed to ensuring the highest quality medical care for them. If necessary, arrangements will also be made to send them abroad at state expense for advanced treatment.

The government statement said that the prayers and solidarity of the entire nation are with Nurul Haque Noor, the injured members of his party and their families in this critical time.

The statement mentioned that Nurul Haque Noor played a historic role in the quota reform movement against Sheikh Hasina’s fascist regime in 2018. As a student leader, he organized the youth, united different views and voices, and stood fearlessly against injustice. He was also arrested during the July 24th mass uprising and brutally tortured in custody.

The interim government believes that Nurul Haque Noor’s role is a symbol of the people’s collective desire for an independent, fair and democratic Bangladesh. His courage and sacrifice will be part of the nation’s history.

The interim government has called on all political and social forces that participated in the July uprising to unite during the crisis. The government statement said that national unity is essential to protect the achievements of the struggle, to resist all anti-people conspiracies and to ensure a successful transition to democracy.

The interim government has firmly assured that the next national elections will be held on time, that is, in the first half of February 2026. This is also stated as the government’s firm commitment to the people.

The statement said that the government and the democracy-loving people will resolutely resist any conspiracy, obstruction or attempt to delay or sabotage the elections. The will of the people will prevail – no evil force will be allowed to hinder the progress on the path of democracy.
