POBNEWS24, Desk Report May 22, 2022: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has congratulated Australian Labor Party leader Anthony Norman Albanizi on his victory in the federal elections. Congratulating him on Sunday, he called for cooperation on transparent energy, maritime security, maritime governance and the Blue Economy.
An official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that the victory was a “reflection of the confidence of the people of Australia in fulfilling their responsibility to lead Australia towards inclusion, peace and prosperity under the leadership of Anthony Norman Albany.” He gratefully noted Australia’s bilateral support for Bangladesh’s independence and its generous support since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
In the context of celebrating 50 years of friendship between the two countries, he said, “We will explore new areas of mutual interest, complementarity and interdependence, so that our relations can be elevated to the level of core partnership.” The Prime Minister said the two countries could work together to enhance peace and stability in the Indian Ocean region and maintain order-based international order.
In her congratulatory message, the Prime Minister said, “I sincerely hope that you will visit Bangladesh at a convenient time to appreciate the strength of this country.” Sheikh Hasina further said that the high-level talks would further strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries and help in building a common understanding on bilateral interests and contemporary regional and global issues.
