POBNEWS24, Desk Report, Feb 7, 2022 : In a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina conveyed her deepest condolences to the Government and people of India on the death of Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar. He said, “The people of Bangladesh are expressing their solidarity with the people of India at this moment of mourning. ‘
Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said this. Sheikh Hasina said the late Lata Mangeshkar was a cultural icon and a legend and one of the most talented artists of all time.
The Prime Minister said, “Lata has sung innumerable songs in different languages including Bengali with her extraordinary melodious voice and has touched the hearts of millions of people in our region and beyond. He said that his Bangla songs are now an integral part of the repertoire of Bengali culture.
He remembered Lata Mangeshkar with deep respect and gratitude for her role in the liberation war of Bangladesh. He added that Lataji, along with his Indian counterparts, had been instrumental in promoting Bangladesh among the people of India.
Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Sheikh Hasina conveyed her deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and millions of fans of the artist around the world and prayed for their strength to bear this irreparable loss.
