US Ambassador Peter de Haas met with Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque at the Secretariat on Thursday.
The US Embassy said yesterday that it was pleased to meet with Law Minister Anisul Haque to discuss various areas of mutual cooperation, particularly the importance of ensuring freedom of expression.
Although digital security laws have been enacted to curb cybercrime, the law minister acknowledged that the law has been abused in some cases. They discussed the importance of reforming digital security legislation to prevent cybercrime without undermining freedom of speech or the press.
