30 youth organisations receive Joy Bangla Youth Award 2020

A virtual ceremony to announce the winners of this year’s Joy Bangla Youth Award recipients was arranged recently. Joy Bangla Youth Award 2020, the fourth edition of the award, recognised 30 youth- led organisations for their outstanding and commendable efforts to bring positive change in the country. Since its inception in 2014, Young Bangla, a research wing of CRI, has been recognising the efforts of youths, who initiate and carry forward positive social changes.

Prime Minister’s ICT advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy, announced the names of the awardees. The winners received crests, certificates, and laptops.

Bloodman Healthcare is a non-profit and voluntary healthcare initiative by young doctors for the low-income groups. They hold free medical camps for  underprivileged communities, run blood grouping campaigns, provide medicines and diagnostic services and connect blood donors with receivers.

MASTUL Foundation is a non-profit, social welfare and development organisation, established in 2013, working to educate underprivileged children, provide food and health services to distressed communities and provide relief in times of natural disasters.

World Youth Army is a voluntary, youth-led organisation, established during the global pandemic. Their volunteers raise funds to provide food aid to the daily wage earners, providing them with emergency relief. They also provide monetary support to the people who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic. 

Central Boys of Raozan, a youth-led organisation operating in Raozan upazila, are building a youth cohort to address different social issues, they are also inspiring the youth by engaging them in voluntary activities, collaborating with the local administration.

Mission Save Bangladesh is a Sheba.xyz social initiative in partnership with The Daily Star and The Daily Samakal to fight against the economic impact caused by the Coronavirus outbreak. They provided constant support to the marginalized communities during the pandemic by providing food aid, running awareness campaigns, raising funds for low-income people.

Footsteps Bangladesh is a non-profit, development based social enterprise with a primary focus on addressing social challenges and improving current scenarios. Footsteps ensure safe water access, food security, gender empowerment and disaster resilience in communities across Bangladesh.

Safety Management Foundation, founded in 2015, is a non-government organisation, which conducts capacity building initiatives and training on integrated disaster management with a focus on fire safety, earthquake management, road safety, search and rescue, first aid and effects of climate change.

Plastic Initiative Network, a youth-led organisation and a platform of Climate Conservation Foundation, works on plastic pollution through voluntary exertions to create a sustainable eco-friendly environment throughout the globe.

Youth Environment and Social Development Society (YESDS) is a youth-led nonprofit voluntary organisation, facilitating youth with a platform offering action-based learning programmes about the environment, climate change, and sustainable development.

Psycure, a nonprofit volunteer organisation is mainly working on mental health issues, focused on major mental health problems as suicide prevention, depression, and anxiety. Psycure also conducts workshops on stress management, anger management, dealing with depression and regulating emotions.

Dip Medical Services & Dipasha Foundation provides medical treatment and support to underprivileged and low skilled people especially women and girls of Singra, Natore. Their clinic is dedicated to the treatment of women and young girls of the area and they provide information to rural women and girls to reduce possible gynecological diseases and maternal illness.

Pohorchanda Adarsa Pathagar is a community library in Pohorcanda village of Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar. They distribute education materials in the schools and engages in different community services.

Uttaran Juba Sangathan is a volunteer youth led organisation established in 2009, working on education, skill development, youth development of the tea-garden community people.

Cinema Bangladesh, a film society organises filmmaking workshops, international film festivals in rural areas of Bangladesh and engages the people to watch, learn and make films.

Happy Natore is a non-profit organisation working to protect the rights of underprivileged children in Natore. They run a school for underprivileged children and also run an adult education programme where destitute women receive basic education.

Sashtha Indrio is a social organisation, is working to ensure childhood and adolescent safety. Its main objective is to educate adolescent groups about sexual and reproductive health, closely working with girls of vulnerable background to aware of “bad-touch” and other forms of sexual harassment.

OBHIZATRIK Foundation, a voluntary organisation, provides livelihood support to 560 families, runs elementary schools and provides free health service programmes.

Miserable Welfare Association is a social organisation, supporting the Bede community in Sylhet. The members run a school, arrange livelihood training for the adults and provide health services.

Hate Khori Foundation is a voluntary organisation working to ensure education for children of the fishing community. They provide financial support for school going children, arranges different cultural and recreation programmes.

Ek Takay Shikkha, a social organisation, assists students of disadvantaged backgrounds to continue education. Starting from Chattogram district, they have extended their activities to five more districts.

Goodfeelm, a non-profit social organisation reaches people with films, aiming to create awareness through movies as an act of storytelling. The movies raises awareness about hunger, education, climate, clean water and sanitation among others.

Unmesh is a non-profit, voluntary organisation working for community development in the CHT region. They organise regular events and online programs to keep the youth community engaged in socio-cultural activities.

Ignite Youth Foundation (IYF) is a non-profit organisation, working for women empowerment, child rights, poverty reduction and health and hygiene. They provide free education to disadvantaged children, provides training to the local women in tailoring, and arranges various workshops and training programmes.

iTecH School, a platform aiming to solve the unemployment problem in Bangladesh, by offering skill training and professional course.

Positive Bangladesh offers the youth a platform to nurture critical thinking and engage in creative activities. The organisation arranges creative events and competitions for youth community and publishes a magazine for the youth.

Deshi Ballers is a female-led sports development group working to create a platform for women and girls to be empowered through sports. Founders Ashreen Mridha and Gulnahar Mahbub Monika, visit schools and colleges across the country, organising various short camps and exhibition games, to showcase and promote women’s basketball.

Youth For Change Bangladesh (YFC-BD), is a registered youth organisation under the Department of Youth Development, Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Government of Bangladesh. They have been working on gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health rights, and youth development.

Centre for Rights & Development of persons with Disabilities (CRDD), has been working in the area of disability health and rehabilitation, career building, skill-up, entrepreneurship development, and disability rights activities.

Bangladesh Wheelchair Sports Foundation (BWSF) is working to ensure the participation of all physically challenged athletes and sports enthusiasts of Bangladesh in all types of sports.

Hobiganj Association for Autism and Social Development (HASSI) strives to support and transform the lives of special needs children through therapeutic and skill development services.
