Meanwhile, the interim government has imposed a curfew in Gopalganj to control the situation after the massive clashes and attacks. This was announced in a message sent by the press wing on Wednesday evening.
The message said that the curfew will be imposed from 8 pm on Wednesday to 6 pm on Thursday. Earlier in the afternoon, the district administration had imposed Section 144 in the city to control the situation.
Earlier, on the way back from a meeting in Gopalganj, an NCP convoy was attacked in front of Gopalganj Government College in the Launch Ghat area of the city. At that time, Gopalganj turned into a battlefield. Police and army vehicles were also attacked.
After 2 pm Before the NCP meeting started at the open stage of the Municipal Park, an attack took place at the rally stage organized in the Municipal Park area of Gopalganj city at around 1:30 pm.
On the other hand, the besieged Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) leaders left Gopalganj safely under the tight security of the army and law enforcement agencies amid the heated situation.
Their convoy left the office of the Gopalganj District Superintendent of Police after 5 pm on Wednesday with the help of the army.
NCP Joint Member Secretary Mushfiqur Us Salehin confirmed this information. He said that they left Gopalganj after 5 pm.
Their convoy of 15 to 16 vehicles left Gopalganj under heavy guard. Among the NCP leaders in this convoy are NCP convener Nahid Islam, Akhtar Hossain, Hasnat Abdullah, Sarjis Alam and other top leaders.
