Mir Afroz Zaman, POBNEWS24, Dhaka, May 5, 2021 : Archbishop Cardinal Patrick D’Rozario said the world has now been vitiated and it is needed to instill values among people for their salvation.
D’Rozario, representative of Pope in Bangladesh, came up with the remarks while giving an exclusive interview to POBNEWS24 at Cardinal House at Mohammadpur in the capital today (Wednesday)
Big countries spent 2.2 billion Dollars for buying weapons in the last year as part of their preparation for war. The nature is taking its revenge for the unwanted activities by human beings. We have to arouse religious spirit and values among people in order to escape the nature’s wrath. We have to keep in mind that God never punishes anyone, he observed.
Referring to management of Covid-19, he said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has set an example in the world in facing corona pandemic. All the people of Bangladesh got the facility of vaccination of corona due to initiative taken up by Sheikh Hasina, said the Cardinal.
Mentioning about Bangladesh’s diplomatic policy, Patrick said Bangladesh improved its overseas relations through love. The country is going ahead with a policy titled ‘malice to none’. But Pakistan should make apology to Bangladesh for its role in 1971. Bangladesh also should create an atmosphere for seeking apology.
Myanmar must take back Rohingyas. Congenial atmosphere has to be created for this. Initially Myanmar’s military ruler was guided by religious sense, it has now become political, said Patrick D’Rozario.
Referring to religious harmony in Bangladesh, the Cardinal said, there is a sense of brotherhood among the followers of all the faiths, the Prime Minister is working for making a non-communal country. It is a praise-worthy step.
