POBNEWS24, Dhaka Sept10, 2025 : The Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed panel has won 23 out of 28 posts in DUCSU in the Dhaka University Central Student Union and Hall Union elections 2025.
DUCSU Chief Election Commissioner Professor Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin and returning officers announced the results at the official results at the DU Senate Building after 8:30 am on Wednesday (September 10).
Md. Abu Sadiq (Sadiq Kayem) of the Chhatra Shibir panel got 14,042 votes for the VP post. His nearest rival, Abidul Islam Khan of Chhatra Dal, got 5,708 votes.
Meanwhile, SM Farhad won by getting 10,794 votes. He also contested from the Chhatra Shibir-backed United Student Union. His nearest rival, Chhatra Dal leader Tanvir Bari Hamim, got 5,283 votes. Besides, Meghmalla Basu of the Prevention Council came third with 4,949 votes.
Muha. Mohiuddin Khan of the Chhatra Shibir-supported panel also won the AGS post. He got 11,772 votes. Chhatra Dal’s AGS candidate Tanvir Al Hadi Mayed got 5,064 votes.
Besides, candidates of the United Students Alliance supported by Chhatra Shibir won 20 more posts. Among them, Liberation War and Democratic Movement Secretary Fatema Tasnim Juma got 10,631 votes. Iqbal Haider won the Science and Technology Secretary post with 7,833 votes. Khan Jasim got 9,706 votes for the International Secretary post.
Asif Abdullah contested as Student Transport Secretary and received 9,061 votes. Arman Hossain was elected as Sports Secretary with 7,255 votes. Umme Salma got 9,920 votes for the Common Room, Reading Room and Cafeteria Secretary post. Sakhawat Zakaria became the Human Rights and Law Secretary with 11,747 votes. MM Al Minhaj received 7,038 votes for the Health and Environment Secretary post. Mazharul Islam also won the Career Development Secretary post with 9,344 votes.
The winners from the United Students Alliance were Sabikunnahar Tamanna (10,048 votes), Sarvamitra (8,988 votes), Anas Ibne Munir (5,015 votes), Imran Hossain (6,256), Tajinur Rahman (5,690), Meftahul Hossain Al Maruf (5,015), Belal Hossain Apu Khan (4,865), Raisul Islam (4,535), Md. Shahinur Rahman (4,390), Md. Afsana Akhter (5,747) and Raihan Uddin (5,082 votes).
Other candidates won the remaining five posts outside the panel. They are – Independent candidate Zubair bin Nesari for the post of Social Service Secretary. Independent candidate Musaddiq Ali Ibn Mohammad for the post of Literary and Cultural Secretary. Independent candidate Sanjida Ahmed Tanvi for the post of Research and Publication Secretary. Hema Chakma and Ummu Uswatun Rafia for the post of Member.
Earlier, voting started from 8 am on Tuesday and continued till 4 pm without any break. The 38th DUCSU election ended in a peaceful and festive atmosphere without any major incident. This time, there were 471 candidates for 28 posts in DUCSU. And elections were held for 13 posts in 18 Hall Sangsad. There were 1,035 candidates for 234 posts in Hall Sangsad.
It is worth noting that this time, there were a total of 39,874 voters in DUCSU. Of these, 18,959 were female students and 20,915 were male students.
