POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Oct 11, 2025 : The army headquarters has already taken into custody 15 of the army officers against whom arrest warrants have been issued for crimes against humanity and disappearances during the Jalai Uprising in Bangladesh until Sheikh Hasina leaves for India.
Bangladesh Army Adjutant General Major General Md. Hakimuzzaman gave this information at a press conference organized on Saturday at the Dhaka Cantonment Mess on the cases of military members in the International Crimes Tribunal.
The armed forces personnel under arrest warrants are Major General Sheikh Md. Sarwar Hossain, Major General Kabir Ahmed, Brigadier General Mahbubur Rahman Siddiqui, Brigadier General Ahmed Tanvir Mazahar Siddiqui, Colonel Anwar Latif Khan, Brigadier General Md. Jahangir Alam, Brigadier General Tofail Mostafa Sarwar, Colonel KM Azad, Brigadier General Md. Kamrul Hasan, Brigadier General Md. Mahbub Alam, Colonel Abdullah Al Momen, Lieutenant Colonel Sarwar Bin Kashem, Lieutenant Colonel Mashiur Rahman Jewel and Lieutenant Colonel Saiful Islam Sumon.
Md. Hakimuzzaman said, ‘Of the officers against whom the chargesheet has been filed, 15 are currently in military custody. We had asked a total of 16 people to come to military custody, 15 of them have come and are in custody’.
He said, ‘25 army officers have been accused in 3 cases. Of these, 9 are retired, one is in LPRA, and 15 are currently working’.
Md. Hakimuzzaman said that after the chargesheet was filed on October 8, 2025, 16 people in LPR and service were attached to the army headquarters. They were instructed to come to the army headquarters by October 9. Except for Major General Kabir Ahmed, the remaining 15 people responded. They have been kept in custody. They are detached from their families.
He said that Major General Kabir has gone into hiding. Surveillance activities have been continued to prevent him from going abroad.
Meanwhile, the International Crimes Tribunal issued arrest warrants against 30 people in two cases of crimes against humanity on Wednesday, October 8.
In the first case, 17 people have been accused of torturing detainees in the RAB Task Force Interrogation (TFI) cell and 13 people have been accused of torturing detainees in the Joint Interrogation Cell (JIC) in the second case.
The main accused in both cases is former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was ousted in a military coup in July. The case also includes her defense and security adviser, retired Major General Tariq Ahmed Siddiqui, and five former DGFI directors general.
Of these 30, 22 are former and current army officers ranging from colonel to lieutenant general.
It is worth noting that the International Crimes Tribunal has issued arrest warrants against 24 former and current army officers on charges of crimes against humanity. The tribunal issued this order on October 8. The authorities concerned have been asked to arrest them by October 21 and present them before the tribunal on October 22.
