POBNEWS24, Dhaka Feb 14, 2026 : Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has demanded a recount of votes in 30 constituencies in the 13th national parliamentary election, alleging “fraud” in vote counting.

The demand was made at a press conference held this afternoon at the party’s central office in Moghbazar, Dhaka.

The constituencies are: Dhaka-7, 8, 10, 13 and 17; Panchagarh-1; Thakurgaon-2; Dinajpur-3 and 5; Lalmonirhat-1 and 2; Gaibandha-4; Bogura-3; Sirajganj-1; Jashore-1; Khulna-3 and 5; Barguna-1 and 2; Jhalakathi-1; Pirojpur-2; Mymensingh-1, 4 and 10; Kishoreganj-3; Gopalganj-2; Brahmanbaria-5; Chandpur-4; Chattogram-14; and Cox’s Bazar-4.

Jamaat claimed that the results in many of these constituencies would change if votes were recounted.

At the press conference, the party’s Assistant Secretary General and head of its central publicity department, Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer, also demanded that the swearing-in of the declared winners in these seats be suspended until the recount is completed.

According to the Jamaat leader, the results in these constituencies were “deliberately altered to defeat the candidates of Jamaat and the 11-party alliance.”

He further alleged that a section of officials from the administration and the Election Commission were involved in the matter.

He said the party is taking legal steps over the issue.

Also present at the press conference were the party’s Assistant Secretary General and member secretary of its election management committee, Maulana Abdul Halim, and Assistant Secretary General Moazzem Hossain Helal, among others.

At the event, Jamaat’s Dhaka-6 candidate Abdul Mannan also alleged that he had been defeated through “manipulation” in vote counting.

It is worth noting that the general election and referendum were held in Bangladesh on Thursday, February 12. Despite a few isolated incidents, the election was held in a very festive atmosphere. BNP won the 13th general election by winning two-thirds of the seats.
