POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Feb 14, 2026 : After the victory, BNP Chairman Tareque Rahman said in a press conference, “We will all remain united, God willing, so that no evil force can establish fascism in Bangladesh and turn the country into a subservient state and we must remain in the interest of the country.” He said, “Our paths and opinions may differ, but we are all one in the interest of the country. I believe that national unity is our strength, division is our weakness.” After BNP’s landslide victory in the elections, party Chairman Tareque Rahman faced the media for the first time, promising to implement every promise.
A group of local and foreign journalists were present at the press conference held at the ballroom of Hotel Intercontinental at 3:30 pm on Saturday.
Tareque Rahman said, “I would like to thank the leaders, activists and supporters of BNP from all walks of life across the country and say that you did not leave the streets despite hundreds of tortures and persecutions.” He was steadfast and steadfast in the struggle to establish democracy. Now it is our turn to build the country. In this journey of rebuilding the country, you and I must play a responsible role.
Tareque Rahman said, the people of the country have once again given the mandate to run the state to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party BNP, founded by the independence proclaimer, martyr President Ziaur Rahman. The people have shown faith and love towards BNP, this time we have to work unitedly to repay this faith and love of the people through relentless work to improve the living standards of the people.
Tareque Rahman said, the people have made BNP victorious, Alhamdulillah. This victory is for Bangladesh, this victory is for democracy, this victory is for the people who love democracy. From today, we are all free. I extend my sincere congratulations to all the people of the country. By facing all obstacles, we have paved the way for the establishment of democracy in the country.
He said, we celebrated this victory of establishing democracy and human rights calmly, peacefully, and responsibly. I urge all BNP leaders and activists across Bangladesh to remain calm and vigilant despite the provocations so that no untoward incident takes place in Bangladesh after the elections.
It is worth noting that the general election and referendum were held in Bangladesh on Thursday, February 12. Despite a few isolated incidents, the election was held in a very festive atmosphere. BNP won the 13th general election by winning two-thirds of the seats.
