POBNEWS24, DHAKA, Sept 2, 2026-High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Shri Dinesh Trivedi paid separate courtesy calls on the Hon’ble Speaker of the Bangladesh National Parliament, Maj. (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, and the Hon’ble Deputy Speaker, Barrister Kayser Kamal, at the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad on 2 September 2026.
During the meetings, the High Commissioner underscored the importance of engagement between the Parliaments of India and Bangladesh in further strengthening people-to-people ties between the two sovereign and democratic countries.
The discussions covered a range of issues, including the formation of Parliamentary Friendship Groups, reciprocal visits by Parliamentary delegations under the guidance of the respective Speakers, cooperation between Parliamentary committees, and the digitisation of Parliamentary records.
The High Commissioner also reiterated the invitation extended by the Hon’ble Speaker of the Lok Sabha of the Parliament of India, Shri Om Birla, to the Hon’ble Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Bangladesh to visit India at their earliest convenience.
