The Prime Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the swearing in ceremony of newly elected Mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation Selina Hayat Ivy and newly elected councilors on Wednesday morning. He took the oath of office to newly elected Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy by virtually connecting to the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital via video conference from Ganobhaban.
Sheikh Hasina said, “We believe in democracy and people’s right to vote. The people will vote to choose the candidate of their choice who will work for them. Because people never make mistakes, that’s the reality. So we do all kinds of work with confidence in the people. ‘
The Prime Minister thanked the Election Commission and the law enforcement agencies for holding free and fair elections in Narayanganj. “Through this election, the people have exercised their voting right and elected the candidates of their choice,” he said. The Prime Minister congratulated all the people of Bangladesh, especially in Narayanganj, and said that the election of Narayanganj City Corporation had set a great example. He thanked all the people of Narayanganj for winning the party candidate by voting in the boat race.
