POBNEWS24, Dhaka Aug 22, 2022 : Bangladesh Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Md. Tazul Islam and Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming jointly inspected the Dasherkandi STP project on August 21.
In the course of the inspection, both sides expressed the recognition and praise to the project construction team and the completion and operation of the project, and expected the Chinese and Bangladeshi governments and enterprises to continue to deepen cooperation in the future.
Minister Tazul considered the project to be of special significance for the friendship between China and Bangladesh.
The minister thanked the Chinese company for actively participating in the project construction, the Chinese Embassy for actively promoting the project construction, and expressed his sincerest gratitude to the Chinese engineers, managers and technicians for their hard work.
Liu Zhenhua, Economic and Commercial Counselor, Le Liwen, Cultural Counselor of Chinese Embassy，and Taqsem A Khan，Managing Director of Dhaka WASA, accompanied the inspection, according to a press release of the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka.
The Dasherkandi STP project is a project provided by the Chinese government with preferential loans, and the Power Construction Cooperation of China is responsible for construction and operation and maintenance.
The project engineering design sewage treatment capacity of 500,000 cubic meters per day, is the first modern sewage treatment plant project in Bangladesh, and is also the largest sewage treatment plant project in South Asia up to now, the release added.
