State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kobir signed the condolence book at the Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka on Tuesday on behalf of the Government and people of Bangladesh.
In his message, the State Minister conveyed heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the Government and people of Nepal over the loss of lives, including tourists, and the extensive damage caused by the disaster.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of Bangladesh, I extend our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the Government and the friendly people of Nepal for the death of hundreds of people including tourists and the large-scale destruction of properties and infrastructure following the sudden devastating floods and mudslide in northern Nepal on 26 August 2026,” he wrote.
“At this hour of profound grief, our sincere thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this terrible tragedy,” Kobir said.
He reaffirmed Bangladesh’s solidarity with the people of Nepal and said Dhaka stands ready to provide any assistance required in the aftermath of the disaster.
“Bangladesh expresses solidarity with the friendly people of Nepal and stands ready to extend any kind of assistance as required,” the State Minister said.
Expressing confidence in the resilience of the Nepalese people, he added, “As we stand together, we are confident in the resilience and strength of the people of Nepal to overcome the challenges with fortitude.”
Bangladesh and Nepal maintain close and friendly relations, with the two countries regularly cooperating on regional, economic and humanitarian issues.
