POBNEWS24, Dhaka Nov 20, 2025 : Bangladesh will follow a zero-tolerance policy against interference in internal issues by any country and against all forms of terrorism in any situation, said Bangladesh’s National Security Advisor Dr. Khalilur Rahman.

He said that Bangladesh has been actively participating in various activities of the CSC and will continue to do so in the future. The five pillars of the conclave are very important to us. We believe that through these pillars, the CSC will be able to play a significant role in enhancing regional collective security, stability and the shared prosperity of the member states.

He expressed this expectation in his speech at the seventh conference of National Security Advisors of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) in Delhi on Thursday. The conference was held at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of the Foreign Service Academy of India. This information was given in a press release sent by the Press Wing of the Chief Advisor in Bangladesh on the same day.

At the conference, Dr. Khalilur Rahman said, Bangladesh has been actively participating in various activities of the CSC and will continue to do so in the future. The five pillars of the conclave are very important to us. We believe that through these pillars, the CSC will be able to play a significant role in enhancing regional collective security, stability and the shared prosperity of the member states.

He also said, Bangladesh has been fulfilling its dual responsibility in this regard for a long time. We are working with regional countries to strengthen maritime safety and security, suppress piracy and organized maritime crime, combat terrorism and ensure cyber security.

Stating that Bangladesh has always strongly condemned global terrorism, the National Security Advisor said, our position is very clear – we adopt a ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards terrorism and extremism in any situation. At the same time, the threat of cybercrime has become a concern for all of us due to rapid technological advancements, especially artificial intelligence and increasing digital connectivity. That is why cyber security is given the highest priority in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh has recently faced a series of attacks of misinformation and disinformation, said Dr. Khalilur Rahman. He said, we are committed to protecting our national cyberspace, critical infrastructure and technological assets. This commitment is not only for the safety of citizens, but also for national stability.

He added, however, that national initiatives alone are not enough – this is also reflected in today’s discussion. We need a joint framework and coordinated action to address the threats of cybersecurity, misinformation and disinformation. We are keenly interested in the future initiatives of the CSC in this regard.

At this time, he reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to following the principles of mutual trust, respect, common interests and mutual benefits in addressing regional security challenges.

He said, Bangladesh is always ready to work hand in hand with other countries to make the Indian Ocean region stable, secure, peaceful and prosperous. The security and welfare of any part of us cannot be allowed to be endangered by any external or internal force. Therefore, we are always ready to create a common position on issues of common interest based on mutual trust and openness.

Earlier on Wednesday, he met with Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. During this time, the Security Advisor invited Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time.
