POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Nov 16, 2022 : Bangladeshi people will decide whether the elections in Bangladesh are free and fair. Foreigners have nothing to do here. Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Mustafa Osman Turan said this at an event in Dhaka on Wednesday.
In response to a question about the election, the ambassador said that political parties can discuss to resolve their differences.
He himself spoke to BNP and heard their complaints.
Ambassador Mustafa Osman Turan said about Turkey’s opposition to the trial of war criminals, as Turkey’s ambassador, he always had to face questions from the media. He wants to make the matter clear again. That opposition arose from a misunderstanding. But trust has returned again between the two countries.
The ambassador said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was the first person to condemn the coup attempt against Turkish President Erdoğan. The first lady of Turkey came to Bangladesh after the new Rohingya crisis started. Without trust, such a visit would not have happened.
Regarding war crime trial and death penalty, the ambassador of Turkey gave the example of his country and said that Turkey is against all types of death penalty. After the coup in Turkey, the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, Education Minister were hanged. Political opponents have been hanged before. If in power, there was a tendency to take revenge against opponents.
