POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Dec 26, 2025 : BNP Acting President Tarique Rahman returned home from London after 17 years on Thursday, surrounded by millions of people. He touched the soil of his motherland barefoot as soon as he got off the plane. He went to the 300-foot Purbachal stage in the capital and stood in front of the microphone and said in a speech, “I have a plan for the people of my country, Bangladesh.” That statement of Martin King Luther on racial discrimination. The whole world listened to that statement with surprise. After a long time, Khaleda Zia, who is a three-time successful Prime Minister of Bangladesh, met her mother. Having endured Sheikh Hasina’s long imprisonment and torture, she has become an uncompromising leader for the people of Bangladesh. Tarique Zia was forced to leave the country during the Awami League government. Khaleda Zia was lured to leave the country repeatedly, but she remained steadfast in her faith in the people of the country. That is why Begum Khaleda became an uncompromising leader for the people of Bangladesh. Bem Khaleda Zia is an uncompromising leader for the people of Bangladesh.
Her son Tareq Zia could not see his mother Khaleda Zia after so many years. He may not have paid tribute to his father Ziaur Rahman’s grave even once.
Returning to his motherland, he rushed to visit the grave of his father, martyred President Ziaur Rahman, on Friday.
He visited Ziaur Rahman’s grave at around 4:40 pm on Friday. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul and senior leaders of the party’s standing committee were present at the time.
Earlier, on September 1, 2006, the party’s then Senior Joint Secretary General Tareq Rahman paid tribute to his father, martyred President Ziaur Rahman, at the mausoleum on the occasion of the BNP founding anniversary.
After visiting the grave today, he is leaving for the National Memorial in Savar in a red-green bullet-proof bus to pay homage to the martyrs of the Liberation War. Meanwhile, leaders, activists and supporters are gathering around Tarique Rahman’s arrival at the memorial. For the sake of Tarique Rahman’s security, a sufficient number of police, RAB and BGB have been deployed at important points on the Dhaka-Aricha highway, including Zia Udyan and the Savar National Memorial. Law enforcement officers in plain clothes are also present around the memorial area.
