POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Sept 27, 2026 : Six people died of dengue while 2,158 new cases were reported in Bangladesh in the 24 hours till Sunday morning.
These are the highest single-day cases so far from the mosquito-borne disease this year.
The latest fatalities have brought the number of dengue deaths in the country to 225 this year, while the new cases raised the total number of infections to73,694, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the new deaths, two deaths were reported in Khulna division while one each in Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka divisions and Dhaka South City Corporation.
Of the total deaths recorded this year, 46.4 percent were men and 53.6 percent were women.
Earlier on September 8, Bangladesh recorded its highest number of dengue deaths in a single day this year, with nine people succumbing to the mosquito-borne disease.
The previous highest daily tally of dengue cases was recorded on September 14 with 1,733 patients being hospitalised across the country.
Meanwhile, 68,006 dengue patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovery, according to the DGHS.
