POBNEWS24, Sep 14, 2021 :Leaders of the Dhaka University branch of the BCL have demanded the release of Jhumon Das of Sunamganj. They have announced to join the movement if Jhumon is not released immediately. Jhumon Das was arrested six months ago on charges of posting on Facebook against Hefazat-e-Islam leader Mamunul Haque. He has been in jail since then.
The announcement was made by the leaders of the BCL’s university branch at a protest rally at the foot of the Raju sculpture at Dhaka University on Monday. The rally was organized under the banner ‘Ordinary Students of Dhaka University’.
Dhaka University branch of the BCL senior joint general secretary and said. Hossain Ahmed further said, ‘Jhumon Das may not be released under the pressure of some invisible force. If he is not released immediately, we will be on the streets again. We will show a red card to religious extremism.
Rafiqul Islam, joint general secretary of the university’s Chhatra League and a former member of Daksh, said: The attackers on the minorities are not being tried, while Jhumon Das has to be imprisoned for posting against the attackers. This is sad. ‘
Abu Yunus, organizing secretary of Vijay Ekattar Hall Chhatra League and former AGS of Hall Sangsad, said, “A clear definition of insult to religion needs to be defined. We want the release of Jhumna Das. “
