POBNEWS24, Dhaka Sept 15, 2025 : BNP leader Altab Mollah of Pallabi in the capital Dhaka said, “Those of us who have been working at the grassroots level of BNP have endured imprisonment and torture for the past 17 years and have been able to sustain ourselves in politics till now. We are completely neglected. Currently, politics has become hostage to hybrids. The spirit of July is being controlled by the hybrid leaders of BNP. We have never seen them in the political field during Sheikh Hasina’s misrule.”
Altab Mollah said, ‘The party must take action against hybrids before the upcoming national elections. The last DUCSU and JACSU elections have given an advance message about the upcoming elections. If we do not take action in time, the party will be completely damaged.’
He said, ‘We have freed the tyrant Sheikh Hasina at the cost of a lot of sacrifice and blood. We have taken the spirit of July to heart. We will not back down from this spirit.’
Altab Molla told this reporter in a private conversation at Pallavi’s office on Tuesday.
Altab Mollah said, 78 cases have been filed against me. I have worked for the party despite escaping and enduring imprisonment. BNP is a party formed by martyred President Ziaur Rahman, we have organized the party for 40 years. In 2008, we worked for a BNP leader. Since then, hybrids have massaged everything. Many leaders like me have been deprived. I think that in the next election, the people will vote for a person who is not involved in honest cheating, and who can sleep peacefully if they vote for him. For this, the parties will have to select candidates in that way.
Altab Mollah said, ‘Our leader is sick. We are soldiers implementing the ideals that martyred President Ziaur Rahman gave for the party. I will say that currently Tarique Rahman is sitting in London and running the party virtually. I think currently people do not like remote control. “I would like to tell Tarique Rahman to quickly expel the hybrids from the party, otherwise the next election will be a disaster.”
Crores of taka are extorted from the sidewalks of Dhaka city every day. It has happened in the past as well. Do you think that extortion has increased now? To this question, Altab Mollah said, the extortion that has happened in the past few months after August 5 has not been like this in the past.
