The National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights of India has sought a report from the Damoh district administration on the incident.
The village is located in that district. However, the Madhya Pradesh police has denied receiving any official complaint about the incident.
However, they have started an investigation. Damoh district SP DR Teniwar told India’s state-run news agency PTI that action would be taken against anyone found forcing the girls to walk naked.
The video shows the girls walking in groups. At this time a group of women are advancing with them singing the song of rain.
The song of their downpour continues and they stop at every house in the village. Food grains are collected from the houses at this time.
It was later donated to the community kitchen of a local temple. “We believe it will rain,” said one woman who attended.
Damoh District Collector S Krishna Chaitanya said the girls, whose parents had agreed to strip naked in the rain, agreed.
