POBNEWS24, Dhaka June 28,2025 : India has banned the import of 9 types of products from Bangladesh through land ports. The ban was announced in a notification by the Indian Department of Foreign Trade on Friday (June 27).
However, India has kept a channel open for importing the products from Bangladesh. According to the notification, these Bangladeshi products will be able to enter India through the Navoseba port in Mumbai by sea.
According to the notification, there are no restrictions on the export of those 9 types of products from Bangladesh to Nepal and Bhutan through land ports in India.
The products under the ban include – jute, jute products, hemp tow and waste, jute and other bast fibers, single hemp yarn, single jute yarn, multiple folds, woven fabrics or bleached woven fabrics made of hemp and jute.
Accordingly, India has imposed restrictions on the import of products from Bangladesh in three phases in three months. Earlier, on May 17, it had imposed restrictions on the import of products such as ready-made garments, processed food, plastics, wooden furniture, yarn and yarn by-products, fruits and fruit-flavored drinks, and soft drinks through land ports in India.
On April 9, the country had withdrawn the facility for exporting Bangladeshi products to various countries of the world using India’s Kolkata airport.
