POBNEWS24, Desk report Dhaka July 2, 2025 : India is keeping a close eye on the situation in Bangladesh, said External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. He said that New Delhi is paying special attention to matters related to Bangladesh for India’s national interest and internal security.
Jaishankar made these remarks on Wednesday in the ongoing monsoon session of the Indian Parliament. In the session, a BJP MP drew his attention to an exhibition recently held at Dhaka University. He said that an Islamist group called ‘Saltanat-e-Bangla’ has published a map called the so-called ‘Greater Bangladesh’, in which several Indian states are shown as the territory of Bangladesh.
It was mentioned that this group is being run with the help of the Turkey-based NGO ‘Turkish Youth Federation’, according to various sources.
In response, Foreign Minister Jaishankar said, “We have contacted the Bangladeshi government on this issue. Citing the government fact-checking platform ‘BanglaFact’, they informed us that a historical exhibition was organized on the Dhaka University campus on the occasion of Pohela Baishakh on April 14, 2025. A map of medieval Bengal was displayed there.”
He added, “The organizers of the exhibition have informed the Bangladeshi government that they have no connection with any foreign organization or group. In addition, the Bangladeshi authorities have informed that no organization or group called ‘Saltanat-e-Bangla’ exists in Bangladesh.”
Jaishankar said, “We are keeping a special eye on any issue related to national interest surrounding Bangladesh. We are taking steps in these matters with utmost importance to India’s internal security.”
