POBNEWS24, London May 21, 2025 : So far, the Interim government has banned the passports of four military officers and traveling abroad. There are 5 serving officers. Except for one, the rest are former and current officers of the army. There are only two non-commissioned warrant officers, the rest are commissioned officers. There are also 4 family members. Moreover, the government has imposed the same ban in the name of two politicians and retired army officers. That is, a case has been filed in the name of these 51 people for alleged disappearance and human rights violations.
Since August 1, 40 military officers have been forced to retire from employment, premature retirement and dismissed. 5 from the army, 21 from the Navy and 9 in the Air Force. In addition,
5 army officers have been detained and they will definitely be deported, that is, the number of outgoing officers from the army will be 10.
8 former army officers have been arrested in connection with political and non -political. There are cases of seizing bank accounts, cases in the ACC, property, etc.
In fact, these numbers will be more. Because very little information is revealed in newspapers. As a result, it is not possible to get more information.
Even if the state costs a lot to prepare a military officer, the calculation is not known, but understand that the amount is much higher than any other sector. The most disciplined institution in Bangladesh is the three military forces. Due to the law, irregularities are less. Even then some wrongdoing happens, but in numbers it is very small. Brigadier Sakhawat, Major Akhtaruzzaman, Major Saeed Iskandar, Brigadier Shams, Colonel Hasinur Rahman, Major Raza, are dismissal or retired officers, but are less than the numbers of professional officers such as Brigadier Amin Akbar or Brigadier Abdul Majid. If the real calculation is speculated, then the most unjust retirement of the last 16 years can be mentioned as Brigadier Amin Akbar and Brigadier Abdul Majid.
Besides, fanatical, inefficient and middle -class officers like Lieutenant General Chowdhury Hassan Sarwardi or Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Ahsan and Md. Faizur Rahman were promoted, but their numbers were also negligible. In the low mentality country like Bangladesh, the only military is very low in crime or wrongdoing and punishment is guaranteed if any wrong doing is proven. But after August 5, the traditional rules or customs are seen to be disappeared.
After August 5th, countless professional and on duty officers are taking the risk of life and jobs. Because in the past they have served in various positions on the basis of skill and qualification, and for this reason theboard now tagged as fascists. The inefficient and ineligible are making these tagging, causing distress to many peoples life by doing these tagging. So that skilled people are sacked or deprived of promotion, and inefficient can go up the stairs. There have been several incidents on the latest promotion board. A list has been presented from the chief adviser’s office to target officers, only for being in good posting during the previous government, so the targeted listed officers were not promoted.
After 5th August 2024 Standing at the Raju sculpture of Dhaka University, the army has announced that the so & so are among the fascist, and they were sent to Retirement. From France or the United States-London, YouTubers have uploaded the video by propagating lies, and in the meantime someone’s farewell bell rang. The International Crimes Tribunal Judge, Prosecutor, Investigation Team and kidnap (Gum) Commission have announced some name of officers were involved in the disappearance of some other officers, the diameter was taken into account. It is like the kingdom of Mob and the kingdom of preferences, where military regulations are absolutely immovable and unfunctional.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Tabarez Shams Chowdhury, a retired, is a study and training -centric officer and has no allegation against him. Another Lieutenant General Saiful Alam, a very strict officer, but there is no shortage of professionalism and skills. Lebukhali Cantonment is formed by his hand, many civilians in South Bengal have been employed but did not give a job to a relative of his own. Can still call him dishonest?
Major General Md. Hamidul Haque was the latest DG in the DGFI during the Awami League. He is called Super honest and Great Professional Officer. Which has no political affiliation.
Brigadier SM Zakaria Hossain, recently taken to home arrest, is a great professional and honest officer of the engineering corps. The victims of the same result, Brigadier Imran Hamid, is skilled, honest and professional, the officers with these attributes are limited.
But these officers are being insulted. This will be a frustrating example for their contemporary and fellow officers for a well -organized force. Which can cause extremely shameful and dangerous consequences for the army.
Such officers have been and are being given early or compulsory retirement. False accusations are being cases and trials. Which I think weakened the army and sufficient image crisis.
Sheikh Hasina was accused of grouping. However, Sheikh Hasina has also made anti -Awami League officer like General Abdul Mubin and General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan (IKB) military chief . Sheikh Hasina is the main artisan of the IKB that became so popular in the army. Because Sheikh Hasina then allocated a lot of fund for developing the army infrastructure, increasing manpower, collecting military equipment and other benefits. Only IKB has taken the credit of that. And that is why he became a huge popular and role model. But the commentary of history is the Making Hero is not real hero. The same has been the case with the IKB.
Currently, let’s say the most discussed and controversial top officers. Principal Staff Officer (PSO) Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Ahsan. He is said to be associated with Hizbut Tahrir. His latest promotion and posting has also been made through the reference of Khilafat movement and the leaders of the Hefazot-e- Islam. But he has not been deprived of promotion for once in the last 16 years. He received good posting, such as Senior Director of Bangladesh National Defense College, Commandant of Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) and Area Commander of the GOC and Rangpur Cantonment of the 66th Infantry Division. The second is Quarter Master General (QMG) Lieutenant General Md. Faizur Rahman. This Pakistan favoured officer has also received good posting and regular promotion during the Awami League. For example, the Commandant of the Military Command and the Staff College, the GOC of the 66th Infantry Division and the Area Commander of Rangpur Cantonment. They have now been in the top charge because they got the regular promotion and they could dream of becoming an army chief through conspiracy. Isn’t it?
There are widespread propaganda in the country that during the period of Sheikh Hasina, all the Director General of DGFI was the Awami League family. This is completely false. Don’t know everyone. However, Molla Fazle Akbar, Sheikh Mamun Khaled, Saiful Abedin and some more of them are from are from BNP family.
Former Jhenaidah Cadet College Cadet Sheikh Mamun Khaled was professional but was bad person and financially dishonest professional. During the Awami League, many great leaders of the Awami League were arranged and False Narrative fake videos were leaked with his hands. His only success is to promote Jahedi alias Mahul Sahib, senior Nasser Shahriar of Cadet College. Nasser Shahriar Jahedi became an independent MP in 2021. But for mysterious reasons, no one is touching his image, probably no case is charged against him. This man’s widespread managerial capacities, which have been seeing from the time of 2007-2008. There has also been widespread rise since then. The magazine, owned by him, has transformed the “shambolic deshkal into the daily newspaper.
Saiful Abedin has bought and settled home in America with the money fro. Destiny. For these reasons, the Major General did not get the promotion of the post of Lieutenant General. Rafiqul Amin, owner of Destiny, was also released from jail after August 5th. He has opened new political party and taking preparation for another daily newspaper for publication.
It is difficult to find honest, skilled and professional people in all sector of Bangladesh. If one condition is Fulfilled, does not match the rest. All the institutions of Bangladesh are Running in such a way. In the meantime, in some cases, promotion, posting, etc. are to be given with discount or compromise. The people of the country are also accustomed to accept it. Because reality cannot be denied.
In Bangladesh, two organizations were called a symbol of unity, the army and cricket team. Although the cricket team lost that fame, on August 5th, the army considered in Bangladesh a symbol of unity. But what will happen next?
