POBNEWS24, Dhaka Jan 3, 2023 : Addressing the policemen, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “I thank you, our police are now serving as ‘people’s police’.” Earlier, people used to get scared when they heard the name of police, now they know that police provide service and stand by people. Gaining people’s trust, gaining people’s confidence is very important for any force and you are doing that. The trust that has been created in the minds of the people towards the police should remain intact.
On the occasion of Police Week-2023, the Prime Minister said these things while addressing the senior police officers at Rajarbagh Police Parade ground today (January 3). The Prime Minister said that in 2013, 2014 and 2015, as a result of violence and arson, about 3,500 people were burnt. 500 people died due to the arson attack, where 29 policemen were burnt to death and many others were injured.
Sheikh Hasina said, we have saved the country from militancy. The police is also playing a role in the fight against militancy, terrorism and drugs. The police are serving the people as the people’s police. The trust that people have built on the police should be maintained.
He also said that there have been many conspiracies against Bangladesh. Bangladesh can never become a failed state. We have to keep an eye on the fact that no obstacle should stand in the way of progress, that the shock of recession should not come.
