POBNEWS24, Dhaka Oct 5, 2024 : Shafiqur Rahman,Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami said that, reforms are more important than elections. He said this after a dialogue with the chief adviser on Saturday (October 5) around 5 pm.

Shafiqur Rahman, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami said that some fundamental proposals have been raised by the party in the meeting with the advisory council of the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus.

After the dialogue with the chief adviser, he came out and told the journalists that this government is a non-partisan government.

They did not come to rule the country. They have come to build a fair way of governing the country.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that the nation has been deprived in the last three elections. The key task is to create an environment to present an acceptable, fair and peaceful election to the nation in the future. That’s why they have to make some fundamental reforms. We talked about what fundamental reforms should be made.

He said, we will present our proposals in front of the nation on October 9. Immediately we will present our thoughts to the nation. What reforms are needed now, what reforms will be needed in the future will be presented to the nation. Besides, the law and order situation of the country was discussed in the meeting.

Jamaat Amir said, we have discussed how the people and the government together can improve the law and order situation, keep the nation united against all kinds of conspiracies. We are hoping that the current government will be able to conduct elections in a good way for the country from a neutral point of view without taking any kind of party-opposition mentality.

Shafiqur Rahman said, we have been saying from the beginning that we want to give reasonable time to the government for reforms. What would be the logical time? We will work on it soon. It will not be late, this is how we want to move forward.

A five-member Jamaat delegation led by Shafiqur Rahman entered Yamuna on Saturday afternoon.

In the delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami, the vice-emir of the party, Prof. Mujibur Rahman, Dr.
