Saudi Arabia to helf  build 630 houses  for flood victims

POBNEWS24, Dhaka Dec 18, 2024 : Saudi Arabia will provide assistance in building 630 houses in 9 districts of Bangladesh for flood and cyclone victims. In addition, the country will provide a total of 6,195 food baskets to the flood-affected areas.

This assistance will be provided with the funding of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KS Relief) of Saudi Arabia.

This information was announced at a ceremony at the Saudi Embassy in Dhaka on Wednesday (December 18).

The Saudi Embassy in Dhaka inaugurated the distribution of food baskets and house construction programs among flood and cyclone victims in Bangladesh with the funding of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KS Relief) of Saudi Arabia.

At the event, Deputy Head of Mission of the Saudi Embassy Abdulaziz Fahad M. Al Ibrahim said that through the humanitarian assistance of King Salman, a total of 6,195 food baskets have been distributed in flood-affected areas in Bangladesh in collaboration with Sunbulah Welfare Association and a total of 630 houses have been constructed in 9 districts of Bangladesh for flood and cyclone victims.

Each food basket will contain a total of 24 kg of food, 10 kg of rice, 7 kg of lentils, 3 liters of edible oil, 1 kg of salt and 3 kg of sugar. A total of 6,195 food baskets will be distributed in 13 places in the districts.

In addition, a total of 630 houses have been constructed in 9 districts among flood and cyclone victims. Each house, 20 feet long, 10 feet wide and 13 feet high, will be built with brick-made paved floors and tin fences and canopies. The districts where houses will be distributed to the affected people are Noakhali, Feni, Comilla, Pirojpur, Patuakhali, Barguna, Bagerhat, Laxmipur and Bhola.

At the event, Sunbulah Welfare Association Chairman Dr. Mohammad Shakir Hossain said, “We want to help the real victims. We will help those who are really affected by visiting those houses.”

At the event, Foreign Ministry Director (Consular) Mustafa Jamil Khan said, “Saudi Arabia is a very good friend of ours. They stand by us during any disaster. This time too, Saudi Arabia will stand by us to help us. For that, we are grateful to them.”
