POBNEWS24, Dhaka Nov 5, 2021 :Bangladesh ended the worst World Cup in history?

The history of Bangladesh playing in the World Cup is 22 years old (combining two editions of ODI and T20). Bangladesh got the taste of ‘World Cup’ in cricket in 1999. Since then, Bangladesh has played 11 World Cups in two editions. This time, whether Bangladesh’s performance is the worst or not, the discussion may arise.

The first World Cup in the history of Bangladesh cricket was great at that time. Going to England with the goal of beating Scotland in the group, that goal was met. As a bonus, Bangladesh got a historic victory against Pakistan. Bangladesh was given a reception after returning home. The cricketers were rewarded.

Is this the ability of Bangladesh cricketers?

Rhythm in the next World Cup. Bangladesh faced all the horrible experiences when they went to play ODI World Cup in South Africa in 2003. It started with a loss to Canada and ended with a loss against Kenya. In the middle, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, South Africa বাংলাদেশ Bangladesh just flew against such teams. Bangladesh batsmen gave a hat-trick ‘gift’ to Chaminda Vas in the first over against Sri Lanka. If we talk about the most ‘bad’ World Cup, the 2003 ODI World Cup will come to mind. With this year’s T20 World Cup, however, the World Cup of 18 years ago will be a tough fight.

There are many fond memories of the World Cup. They are all in the ODI World Cup. The T20 World Cup is a bad memory for Bangladesh. However, Bangladesh started the first T20 World Cup held in South Africa in 2006 with a great victory against the West Indies. Strange thing, as well as hardship, that is the only ‘happy memory’ of Bangladesh even after playing 6 T20 World Cups. Bangladesh have never beaten a recognized Test team in the World Twenty20. Although Bangladesh lost to Afghanistan at home in 2014, six years ago Afghanistan was an associate member of the ICC.

Bangladesh ended a disappointing World Cup

In the discussion of ‘Most World Cups’, we have to get confused by finding out the statistics of all the T20 World Cups so far. After winning against the West Indies in 2006, Bangladesh lost the next three matches against South Africa, Australia and Pakistan. The rate against South Africa and Australia was a big margin. There was some fighting against Pakistan.

Since then, the 2009 Twenty20 World Cup has been a bitter memory for the loss against Ireland. Bangladesh also lost in 2010 against Pakistan. They were crushed at the start of the match against Australia but in the end Brett Lee’s hat-trick was badly lost. Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup campaign was also win-free in 2012. After flying against New Zealand in the first match, Bangladesh lost to Pakistan despite batting well. Bad memories of the 2014 home qualifier against Hong Kong. After that, they have to pull the super and lose all the matches badly.

Bangladesh cricket fans will never forget that match in Bangalore against India in the 2018 T20 World Cup. Bangladesh needed 2 runs from 3 balls to win. Bangladesh had to reach the super pull after passing the qualifiers of the service. In the other match of Super Ten against Australia, batting was not good but Bangladesh fought with the ball.

This is the history of Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup. There is no achievement to be said. There are several regrets. That regret, the history of the pain of not being able to do it has become heavier this time লেও even if it is not said. Even though the 2003 World Cup is ahead in the discussion of the two World Cups, the cricket pundits will not want to discuss this event in their history in the history of T20 World Cup.

In this World Cup, of course, we have an ‘achievement’ — it is an achievement to get out of a kind of delusion about cricket, to set foot on the ground of reality. Even two months ago, Cricket Australia lost to New Zealand in the series, but this year’s World Cup has at least disproved that vague joy. This year’s T20 World Cup has shown that the inside of the seemingly shiny cricket infrastructure is full of worms. The ability of cricketers has also come out in this World Cup. Even ICC member countries like Scotland and Namibia have shown that in some places their capacity is greater than that of Bangladesh.

The worst World Cup in history has benefited us in one way or another!
