POBNEWS24, Dhaka Dec 19, 2025 : The US Embassy in Dhaka has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the untimely death of Inqilab Manch convener and young student leader Sharif Osman Hadi.
In an official condolence message on Friday, the embassy said it joins the general people of Bangladesh in mourning the passing of this talented young leader.
The US Embassy extends its heartfelt condolences to Hadi’s bereaved family, friends, and countless supporters. The death of this frontline fighter of the July uprising has also cast a shadow of grief in the international community.
Sharif Osman Hadi was seriously injured in a gunshot wound to the head by miscreants while campaigning on Box Culvert Road in Purana Paltan in the capital on the afternoon of December 12. He was the victim of this brutal attack just a day after the announcement of the schedule for the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum. Hadi was preparing to contest as an independent candidate from Dhaka-8 constituency in the upcoming elections.
After the attack, he was first taken to a hospital in the country and later to Singapore for advanced treatment. After a long struggle there, he breathed his last at a hospital around 9:45 pm on Thursday.
The body of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi is scheduled to reach Bangladesh from Singapore by a special flight by Friday evening. His followers are gathering in the airport area and Shahbagh awaiting his arrival.
Hadi’s family and Inqilab Mancha have informed that plans have been made to perform his funeral prayers tomorrow, Saturday. Meanwhile, this condolence message from the US Embassy is considered very significant amid the heated situation prevailing across the country over his death.
