POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Nov 22, 2022 : Argentina started the World Cup in Qatar with an incredible loss to Saudi Arabia. Saudi lost Lionel Messi 2-1 today. Messi’s one and Martinez’s two goals were canceled out by Var. The Argentina camp is stunned.
But this is not the first time, this time Argentina started the World Cup with a defeat for the sixth time. They reached the finals once in between.
Argentina was the runner-up in the first World Cup in 1930. In the first match of the 1934 World Cup, they lost to Sweden 3-2. Argentina failed to qualify for the World Cup in 1950 and 1964. In 1958 they lost the first match against West Germany 3-1. In the first match of the 1990 World Cup, they lost 1-0 to Cameroon. But after handling the shock of that loss, Maradona reached the final by defeating strong opponents one after another. But lost to West Germany in the final.
