POBNEWS24, Dhaka Feb 8, 2024 : Holy Shavemeraj today. Shab means night in Persian and Meraj means rising in Arabic. The night of 26th of Rajab is very significant for Muslims. As in other Muslim countries, the devout Muslims of Bangladesh spend the glorious night in worship.
On this night they will perform recitation of the Holy Qur’an, Nafal Namaz, Zikir-Azkar, Dua-Darud and Ibadat-Bandegi to achieve the pleasure of Allah.
The Islamic Foundation has organized a discussion and prayer program at Bad Zohar Baitul Mukarram National Mosque today on the importance and significance of Shabemeraj.
It is celebrated in the Muslim world as a day to commemorate the miraculous and historical events of the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (PBUH). On this night, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) crossed the seven heavens and met the Almighty God and returned with five daily prayers for the Muslims.
The 11th year of Prophethood (621 AD) was a year of sorrow and mourning for Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). During this time he lost his wife Khadijah (R.A.) and uncle Abu Taleb, two of his favorite people during his difficult time. Apart from that, when he went to Taif with the invitation of Islam, he returned from there disappointed.
After that, Almighty Allah honored the beloved Prophet specially through Isra and Meraj.
