3 Bangladeshi girls return home through Benapole check post

POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Aug 12, 2026 : Three Bangladeshi girls have returned home through special travel permits after serving various terms of imprisonment in India.
The Indian immigration police handed them over to the Benapole immigration police at around 4:30 pm on Wednesday.
The three women who returned are Shilapi Abadur Shaikh alias Shilpi (37), daughter of Abdur Rouf of Kalia police station in Narail district, Shimla Khatun (22), daughter of Hashem Sardar of Pabna district, and Riya Khatun (26), daughter of Rafiqul of Kalaroa police station in Satkhira district.
Benapole Immigration OC Ferdous Hossain Khan said that the returning women fell into the clutches of brokers and were trafficked to India in the hope of good jobs. There, they served various terms of imprisonment for about one and a half to two years. Later, they got the opportunity to return home through special travel permits.
He further said that after completing the necessary formalities at Benapole Immigration, they were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.
Benapole Port Police Station OC Ashraf Hossain confirmed the incident and said that after completing the necessary formalities at the police station, the three women were handed over to the NGO “Justice and Care”.
The three women who returned to the country have been taken into their custody. They have been kept in a shelter home in Jessore. After contacting their family members, they will be handed over to their relatives.
Many Bangladeshi men and women have been detained and imprisoned abroad at various times due to illegally migrating abroad through brokers. After returning to the country, the concerned non-governmental organizations cooperate in their rehabilitation and return to their families.
