POBNEWS24, Dhaka July 25,2025 : Sohag’s relatives have demanded the arrest of all the accused in the murder of Lal Chand alias Sohag, a scrap metal dealer, on the road in front of Mitford Hospital (Sir Salimullah Medical College) in the capital and the maximum punishment.

‎‎They made this demand from a human chain in front of the National Press Club on Friday (July 25) morning. The human chain was attended by family members including the plaintiff in the case and Sohag’s elder sister Manjuara Begum, niece Bithi Akhter, Sohag’s son Sohan, Sohag’s wife Lucky Akhter and others.

Sohag’s 10-year-old son Sohan says, ‘I want a peaceful Bangladesh.’
If my father gets a fair trial, then I can proudly say that my father’s murder got a fair trial.’
Questioning what independent country, Sohan said, “After August 5, everyone is saying that Bangladesh has become an independent country after Sheikh Hasina left. But there has been more chaos. After my father was publicly murdered, they held a procession saying ‘Businessmen have no fear, extortionists have no place’.
How will they get so much power? If they hold a procession like this even after my father was publicly murdered. If everyone murders like this, no one will survive in Bangladesh, everyone will die. That’s why I’m saying that if there is a fair trial, the murderers will be afraid.”
Sohag’s wife Lucky Akhter said in the human chain, ‘Accused number 2 in the complaint, Sarwar Hossain Titu, has not been arrested yet.
He is a terrible person. We are in panic because all the accused have not been arrested. We cannot go out with our children. We cannot send them to school. There is always a fear.
I demand the harshest punishment for this murder.’
‎Demanding the addition of four new accused, Lucky Akhter said, ‘The names of 23 people from the family were given in the complaint. But the names of Anwarul Haque Roni alias Bhaiya Roni, Qayyum Molla, Rakesh, Muzaffar Hossain Bablu, who were involved in the murder, have been omitted from there. Their names must be added. This murder was planned by them. The murder was planned sitting in Bablu’s office. But their names have been omitted from the police station.’
