POBNEWS24, Dhaka July25, 2025 : A protest was held in the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque area in Dhaka against the establishment of the UN Human Rights Commission office. After Friday prayers, worshippers gathered at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram, raising slogans.
A protest rally was organized there by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam. Senior Vice President Maulana Abdur Rab Yusufi, Secretary General Maulana Manjurul Islam Afendi, and central and metropolitan leaders of the Jamiat spoke in it. Later, a protest procession was taken out from there.
On the other hand, clerics gathered on the road in front of the north gate of Baitul Mukarram under the banner of Intifada Bangladesh with festoon banners bearing various slogans. Later, a procession was taken out from there. Prominent clerics of the country participated in it.
Speakers from separate protest rallies and marches said, “Where is the role of the United Nations when innocent children and helpless people are being killed indiscriminately in Gaza? Although Muslims in different countries of the world are being persecuted, there is no visible activity or role of the United Nations Human Rights Commission. Human rights violations are also taking place in the countries where they have offices. The decision to establish a human rights office in Bangladesh will not be accepted. If this decision is not immediately canceled, scholars and devout Muslims will launch a strong movement.”
