At the rally, Comrade Sajjad Zahir Chandan said, “Due to the culture of injustice, incidents of violence against women and children are increasing at an alarming rate in the country. Due to social degradation and weak implementation of the law, criminals are getting the courage to commit such heinous crimes again and again. The frustration and anger of Ramisa’s family is a reflection of that reality.” They demanded that those involved in the incident be immediately arrested and the maximum punishment be ensured through a speedy trial tribunal.

Earlier, on Tuesday (May 19) morning, a seven-year-old child, Ramisa Akhter, a second-grade student, was brutally murdered after being raped in Pallabi, Mirpur, in the capital. The child was beheaded with a sharp knife in the third floor of a five-story building on Road-7, adjacent to Millat Camp, Section-11 of Pallabi Police Station.
