POBNEWS24, Dhaka, June 7, 2025 : Like many countries around the world, Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated in Bangladesh on Saturday, inspired by the glory of sacrifice. This is one of the main religious festivals of the Muslim community.
Due to its geographical location, Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated in Bangladesh today, a day after many countries, including Saudi Arabia. Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated all over the world on the 10th of the lunar month of Zil-Hijjah. Before Eid, pilgrims complete the formalities of the holy Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
On this day, all Muslims complete the formalities of the sacrifice after offering Eid prayers in the morning. However, if there is an excuse, the sacrifice can be made until the third day of Eid.
Almost all countries in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Qatar, celebrated Eid on June 6 (Friday) based on the sighting of the moon of the month of Zil-Hijjah. Due to geographical reasons, Muslim communities in Europe, Indonesia, Australia, Britain, the United States and many African countries celebrated Eid a few hours earlier and later.
Eid-ul-Adha is being celebrated in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Morocco, Mauritania, Brunei and Malaysia today. However, people in some parts of some districts of Bangladesh celebrated Eid-ul-Adha along with Saudi Arabia on Friday (June 6).
Crores of devotees participate in Eid-ul-Adha congregations in the country’s Eidgahs. However, the largest Eidgah ground is the Sholakia Eidgah in Kishoreganj. After this, there is the Gor-e-Shahid Maidan ground in Dinajpur. Millions of devotees participate in the Eid congregation simultaneously in these Eidgahs.
The country’s main Eid congregation was held at the National Eidgah ground adjacent to the Supreme Court. The congregation was held at 7:30 am today. In this, Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, members of the Advisory Council, Supreme Court judges, politicians and people from different walks of life participated.
Like every year, five Eid congregations were held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Eid-ul-Azha. The first congregation of Eid at Baitul Mukarram was held at 7 am and the next four congregations were held at 8 am, 9 am, 10 am and 11:45 am respectively.
However, the Meteorological Department has predicted that the weather will be somewhat unfavorable on Eid day this time. Along with rain across the country on Saturday, the temperature has increased slightly.
