POBNEWS24, Dhaka July 31, 2025 : BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has called on everyone, including the women’s community, to be vigilant so that extremism does not rise in the country.

He made this call at a discussion meeting organized by the Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal on Thursday (July 31) afternoon.

Tarique Rahman said, the next national election is very important for every citizen of the country if we want to establish a Bangladesh that a mother’s eyes need to see. In this regard, the women’s community in particular must be very vigilant and alert so that fascism, extremism, and extremism cannot rise in the country in any way, and I call on the mothers and sisters of all Bangladesh to be vigilant and alert.

He said, “Let us unite to honor the sacrifices of the martyrs by establishing a just, democratic, safe Bangladesh for all, regardless of gender, religion, or caste, as desired by the martyrs.” We strongly hope for the active participation and support of our mothers and sisters in the ongoing journey of establishing a safe, democratic, humane Bangladesh for all in the future as well as in the past.

He further said, if we think as families in Bangladesh, the number of families is about 40 million. Among these, what we are planning to implement in the coming days, if the opportunity arises, among the economically backward families, is that in the first phase, we will introduce family cards to at least 5 million marginalized families.

He said, highlighting the various steps taken by the late President Ziaur Rahman and former chief Begum Khaleda Zia for the development of women, Tarique Rahman said, BNP believes that we will never be able to build a safe Bangladesh by keeping half of the country’s women outside the mainstream of state and politics, it is not possible to build a safe Bangladesh.

This discussion titled ‘Women’s Contribution to the Anti-Fascist Movement’ was held at the Bangladesh Medical University auditorium on the occasion of the anniversary of the July-August mass uprising. Mohila Dal President Afroza Abbas delivered the welcome speech at the beginning of the discussion.

Chaired by Afroza Khan Rita, member of the advisory council of the party chairperson, and moderated by Mohila Dal General Secretary Sultana Ahmed and Joint General Secretary Helen Jerin Khan, the discussion was attended by BNP Standing Committee members Abdul Moin Khan, Selima Rahman, JSD Vice President Tania Rob, BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council members Professor Tajmeri S. A. Islam, Tahsina Rushdir Luna, Self-Reliance Affairs Secretary Shirin Sultana, Jahangirnagar University’s Bengali Department teacher Professor Shamima Sultana, Sajedul Islam Sumon’s sister Sanjida Islam Tuli, and popular social media talk show host Hasina Akhtar.

A documentary on the contribution of women to the fascist movement was screened at the event, and later the organizing committee presented medals of honor to the members of the martyr’s family.
