POBNEWS24, Dhaka Oct 6, 2024 : India has expressed concern about the security of minorities ahead of Durga Puja in Bangladesh. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhil Jaiswal expressed this concern at a media briefing on Friday. He said that the Government of India hopes that the Bangladesh authorities should give utmost importance to ensuring the safety of minorities.

Randhir said India’s concerns about the security of minorities have been reported to Bangladesh authorities. He said, we have called several times, even from the highest level, that Hindus should be safe in Bangladesh. I hope their government will ensure that security.

He also said, “We don’t want any untoward incident in Durga Puja.” This arrangement brings happy messages. I wish everyone the best.’

Meanwhile, preparations for the autumn Durgo Festival are going on across the country amidst anxiety. After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, in the context of increased persecution of religious minorities, there has been concern about the uninterrupted celebration of this biggest religious festival of Bengali Hindus. In the meantime, the vandalism of Durga idols in several parts of the country has spread more panic. However, the interim government and administration have assured maximum cooperation in organizing the festive puja.

However, pushing everything away, a very happy atmosphere was seen during the preparations for Durga Puja. The preparations have progressed a lot, including the construction of idols, setting up pandal-stages, decorations in temples and mandapams. Decoration everywhere.

The biggest religious festival of Bengali Hindus will start on October 9 and continue till October 13. On October 2, the worship of Goddess Durga began with the invocation of Durga. A week after this, on October 9, the ritual of worship will begin with the invocation and abode of Dashabhuja Goddess Durga. On the eve of that, on Tuesday evening, the arrival of the goddess will resonate through the bodhan of the goddess. And after October 10 Mahasaptami, October 11 Mahashtami and October 12 Mahanavami, October 13 will end with Vijaya Dashami and Pratima Bisarjan. Durgotsava of the day.

This time the number of pujamandaps has decreased slightly across the country. Sources of the Bangladesh Puja Celebration Parishad say that besides the situation that arose after August 5, due to sudden floods in some districts including Feni, Noakhali. However, the number of pujamandaps in Dhaka metropolis has increased. According to the Metropolitan Public Worship Committee, the number of pujamandap in Dhaka city is 253, which is seven more than last time.
